If you were asked to play a game, what would it be? Would it be a strategy, or maybe a shooter? One way or another, everyone has their own preferences, everyone has their favorite genre of computer games.

But if you turn to open Internet sources, you can see that among gamers there are those who like such a genre of games as RPG. But if we delve deeper into the world of RPG games, then soon we will undoubtedly stumble upon a game like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

It was Skyrim that made a huge step forward not only in its genre, but in the entire computer game world. So how does he differ from his “ancestors” and “descendants”?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released on November 11, 2011 by Bethesda Game Studios, immediately spread around the world within a few days, as there are really a lot of fans of this series in all corners of our large, round globe.

The game not only became very popular in the computer world, but also received the title of “Game of the Year” at the Video Game Award in 2011 (in fact, like the three previous parts). Due to the new, at that time, game engine, the game is still one of the leading games in this regard (of course, at the maximum graphic settings of the game).

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is such a well-thought-out and well-developed game that even just wandering around the game world it is impossible to encounter characters who would not be doing anything, this simply will not happen (with regard to NPCs, sitting and sleeping is not considered). Let’s just think about the fact that each playable NPC has its own name. Just imagine, not one or two, but a whole million heroes. Impressive, isn’t it? Of course, most likely, all these names were invented randomly, tobish at random, and not by a person. But you must admit that playing a game becomes much more interesting when the whole game world is alive, and you are a part of this world?

Game plot

Actually, let’s talk about the plot itself. As you could already understand, the main setting is the province of Skyrim. Skyrim, which has a subarctic climate, is the northernmost province of Tamriel. (Tamriel is both the mainland located on the planet Nirn and the name of an empire that once existed).

Skyrim is the birthplace of such a people as the Nords. The most northern and brutal people of the entire universe of The Elder Scrolls.

In general, it is worth saying that Skyrim is considered one of the most dangerous places in Tamriel. Perhaps, it is not in vain that the developers decide to connect the plot of this province with the appearance of formidable enemies of people – dragons.

It’s been 200 years since the Oblivion Crisis. A lot of things happened during this period of time, but the most important is, perhaps, the Great War of people (Imperials – Empire) and the Aldmeri Dominion. In this war, the Altmer were the clear winner, which is why the Imperial Legion and the Aldmeri Dominion signed a peace treaty called the “White-Gold Concordat”. This event caused a revolt among the people, since a considerable part of the territories was recognized as the Altmer, moreover, according to the agreement, no one had the right to worship Talos, the true god of the Nords. This aspect was unacceptable, so another opposing force was created – the Stormcloaks.

This event greatly affects the plot of the game, because it is closely connected with the prophecy, according to which dragons and their leader, Alduin, will return to this world again.

At the very beginning of the game, when the player does not even have time to “deal with the controls”, although it is the same everywhere, the main character is on his way to Helgen, in a wagon with prisoners. In fact, he himself is considered a prisoner (which is generally not surprising for Bethesda Softworks).

In that wagon, our hero rides along with three prisoners: Ralof, Lokir, Ulfric Stormcloak. All four characters have one thing in common – they are all being taken to execution.

Going a little further in the story, the player realizes that the character he plays for is not just a character, he is Dragonborn Dragonborn (probably many of the readers have seen memes about “Fus Ro Dah” or something similar on the Internet, so here, you know, all these jokes are about the main character of the Skyrim game).

The main character is predicted by the prophecy to slay Alduin himself – the devourer of worlds, a formidable enemy. On your way you will find many friends and enemies, go through a sea of trials.

All the rest of the storylines go like clockwork: go there, become stronger, defeat that villain, and you will be a tough guy. But there is one big “but” here: you can’t just go through Skyrim 100%, but it’s simply impossible to do this, since the game has something like a kind of endless quest system, that is, quests that have almost no effect on the plot , can be given an unlimited number of times.

And you can’t just run through Skyrim without understanding the meaning of the game at all. After all, this game is not just made well, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is made with soul. It is not only beautifully designed in terms of visual perception, but also a lot of attention was paid to the soundtracks of the game. Legendary composer and musician Jeremy Soule, who has already written a large number of compositions for former Bethesda Softworks games: Morrowind, Oblivion.

Not only that, from the previous games in the series, everyone’s favorite factions remained:

  • Thieves Guild
  • The Dark Brotherhood.
  • Synod.
  • The Blades (although the main storyline is connected with this faction, unfortunately, the player will not be one of them).

Many new ones have been added to them:

  • The College of Mages of Winterhold (essentially the same Mages Guild from regular TES).
  • The Stormcloaks
  • Companions.
  • Dawnguard, Clan Volkihar (Both related to the same, non-main storyline).
  • The College of Bards.

Summing up, it is worth saying that TES V: Skyrim is something more than just a computer game.

Skyrim is a whole universe that you want to dive into over and over again, discovering something new. Search, search and once again search for some new meaning, this is the beauty of this game. Again and again to understand who is right and who is wrong. This game not only allows you to have a good time, it makes you think about many things. Even over what is happening in everyday life. After all, Skyrim is an RPG game, and such games have a very close resemblance to the real world.
